Arlington Heights, Ill., March 29, 2017 – Out of nearly 259 abstracts submitted and more than 200 e-posters on display at Academy of Osseointegration’s (AO) Annual Meeting, held recently in Orlando, Fla., six researchers were recognized by a committee of their peers.
Hundreds of clinicians, researchers, residents and their faculty presented original research to receive top honors for their outstanding contributions to the field of implant dentistry. All lectures were assessed on the following criteria: originality or innovativeness; significance on implant dentistry; appropriate method of analysis; relevance of conclusions; and overall quality of presentation.

Awards and plaques were presented to the winners during the Academy’s annual business meeting on March 18.
“The research presented at the 2017 AO annual meeting in Orlando represented the cutting edge in implant and tissue engineering research from all over the world. Hundreds of abstracts were submitted,” said Dr. Mehrdad Favagehi, chairman of the Research Submissions Committee. “Moreover, meeting attendees received an early preview of what will be published in the next year or two and were able to interact with the researchers face to face.”
