Hatfield, PA (September 9, 2014) DEXIS™ is pleased to announce that Pride Institute has presented DEXIS CariVu with the Best of Class Technology Award for 2014 as a product that demonstrates excellence in its category. This recognition focuses on credibility and meaningful innovation of products that “push the envelope” of technology.

Over the years, DEXIS has been honored by Pride Institute for its intra-oral digital sensor, DEXIS Platinum, and its outstanding dental imaging software, DEXIS Imaging Suite and DEXIS go. By garnering this accolade, CariVu joins the DEXIS family’s high-tech winning suite of products that help dental practices better serve their patients.

CariVu technology benefits the patient by detecting caries accurately without ionizing radiation. This unique caries detection device is compact, portable, and uses patented transillumination technology to support the identification of occlusal, interproximal and recurrent carious lesions and cracks. CariVu images are easily compared to intra-oral radiographs and camera images within the DEXIS software. This unit functions unlike any other product in its category — and with truly unmatched technology, delivers an impressive accuracy rate of 99%*.

Lou Shuman, DMD, CAGS, President of Pride Institute and “Best of Class” Program founder noted, “Pride Best of Class Technology Awards are given to truly innovative products. Because of the accuracy of its transillumination technology and benefits to both the clinician and the patients, CariVu sets a new standard for caries detection devices. With CariVu, the practitioner can obtain diagnostic information in a form that is not available in any other current technology.”

“This innovative product is truly resonating with clinicians,” states Rick Matty, Director of Marketing for DEXIS. “Using CariVu to detect caries without the use of ionizing radiation adds another level of support for diagnosis and greatly assists the dentist in charting the best course of treatment for the patient. We are honored to accept the Pride Institute Best of Class Award that recognizes CariVu’s benefits and positive impact on the dental team and patients alike.”

Honorees will participate in the Pride Technology Expo at the American Dental Association’s Annual Meeting, October 9-11, 2014, in San Antonio. The ADA’s Annual Meeting offers face-to-face interaction with attendees and winning companies, as well as technology-centered education provided by members of the panel and the esteemed consultants of Pride Institute.
